Raised in New Albany, Indiana (across the Ohio River from Louisville)
Attended Schools there until 1950; then attended Culver Military Academy, Culver, IN.
Graduated from Culver Military Academy - May 1952
Entered the U. S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, Conn. - June 2, 1952
Graduated and Commissioned in the U.S. Coast Guard - June 4, 1956

Served on the US Coast Guard Cutter Casco, Boston, Mass. until December 1957
Enter US Naval Flight Training, Naval Air Station, Pensacola. Fla. - December 17, 1957
Promoted to Lieutenant(Junior Grade) - December 21, 1957
Completed Basic Flight Training - August 1958
Started Advanced Flight Training, NAS Corpus Christi, TX. - September 1958
Graduated and Received Naval Aviator & Coast Guard Wings - March 1959

Transferred to US Coast Guard Air Station (CGAS), Port Angeles. WA. - April 1959
Promoted to Lieutenant - July 1960
Met my future wife, Diane Kail, in Port Angeles where she was teaching Junior High School
Married in Twin Falls, ID. - August 5, 1960
Tranferred to CGAS Barber's Point, Oahu, Hawaii - May 1962
First child, our daughter, Kaila Lee was born Tripler Army Hospital - March 24, 1963
Second child, our son, Kevin Lynn was born at Tripler Army Hospital - May 24, 1965
Transferred to USCG Headquarters, Washington, DC - June 1965
Promoted to Lieutenant Commander - July 1965
Assigned to Operations, Aviation Units and VIP pilot at CGAS Arlington (National Airport), VA.
Third child, second daughter, Kerri Lou was born Bethesda Naval Hospital - July 21, 1969
Promoted to Commander - October 1969
Assigned as Special Projects Officer for development of VCTS Flight Simulators
Transferred to CG Aviation Training Center, Mobile, AL. - June 1972 as VCTS Officer
Assigned as Head, Aviation Training
Transferred to CGAS San Francisco, CA as Executive Officer - June 1974
Retired in lieu of accepting promotion with 21 years of commissioned service - August 1977
